HELP

Email address harvesters operate by using software "scrapers" or "click through" staff to steal email addresses directly from web-site pages.

Using the WebEmailProtector service prevents this as your Email Address is no longer placed directly on your web-site.

Instead you use an Email Security Key in its place, and our technology only swaps this for your real Email Address after being sure that it is not being accessed improperly.

Because of this it becomes invisible to harvesters and spam-bots and yet is completely usable to bona fide users.

The WebEmailProtector protected email address appears on a site like this:

Email: Support Email

(you can change what it says and how it looks)

whereas a non-protected email address usually appears like this:

Both operate the same when you "click" them, opening up the your email application, but only the WebEmailProtector one is safe from harvesters.

Contact Forms are effective in dealing with both human and machine based harvesting, unless you ever want to use an email auto responder of course as these give away your identity.

However, the bigger problem is that all the form filling is problematic for your visitors, particularly on a mobile device on the go. This can annoy and therefore dissuade real enquirers from getting in touch - effectively putting a barrier between you and your users in your most important communications channel - Email.

In addition, Forms are also prone to error - if you type in your email address incorrectly then your response is lost.

Because of the inconvenience many visitors therefore do not bother, and you miss them getting in touch with you.

Captcha codes are very effective in dealing with machines. if you are unfamiliar then using Captch Codes, visitors are asked to validate ever increasingly more complicated images as displayed, which machines find difficult to do. But the problem is that it is also getting increasingly harder for humans to respond to them, especially so if you are on a mobile device, so after a few tries many can give up.

So can become off-putting to real users, the WebEmailProtector service and Email Key requires not unser intervention and appears to operate like a normal email to bona-fide visitors.

On first sight email address encoders appear effective as any 'mailto:' email text is made unreadable within your HTML code. However these encoders and encrypters, 'free' or otherwise, have to be built so that the unreadable emails can be interpreted by any web-browser using standard HTML. And this is the nature of their drawback.

They are more or less complex but involve a Java/JavaScript sequence munger or character set coder. But to cut a long story short if your browser understands them so can any harvesting software. And it's actually quite simple for encoded email addresses to be interpreted and harvested using standard software libraries such as Selenium or execJS.

When you register we send instructions on how you, or your website developer, places the code onto your site.

To implement requires just a few lines of code in the <head> section of your HTML file and then you replace any <a> anchor link email references in the HTML file with the WebEmailProtector code.

We also have a WordPress Plugin that provides an administration interface that takes care of all the details. You can download it directly from the WordPress repository click here.

Again, we send you the code and instructions after registration. But it's as simple as that to get protected.

No, it's designed to be easy to install, and we send you full instructions and offer full support in case of any difficulties.

Contact us at support using the Phone Number or Email Address listed.

We provide protection as the email address is never listed or disclosed on your website. Instead the email address is held in a secure place on our server and only loaded up when we verify the request is genuine.

You get the full service free, with exactly the same protection as offered with a paid up Standard Messaging subscription. There is no obligation to purchase, but at the end of the trial we are confident that you will see a reduction in volume of new email spam originating from your web site. At the end of the trial we would also ask you to complete a 10 question survey on how you found installing and using it.

Please note that as its a trial you only get it once per email/website for you to try unless otherwise agreed with us.

Once your trial is coming to an end we will send you an email detailing what you have to do to continue the services. All payments can be made on-line using PayPal, in your local currency.

You can also subscribe at any time at the subscribe page.

Once installed, click on your Email and your installed email tool should open as normal. If you really want to check your email is no longer listed view your web site in text mode (e.g. pressing the F12 key in your Internet Explorer/Google Chrome/Firefox web browser) and search for your email address or the mailto: reference. It should no longer be there.

Yes we most certainly do and take data protection very seriously. We do not use your information for any marketing purposes and we do not divulge it to 3rd parties. Further details can be found at our privacy policy page.
And just in case you wonder – we do not see or track the email itself, we only authorise the release of your address so your communication privacy is protected.
